Training and certificates

Assign a course, they do it on their phone, and the certificate tracks its own expiry.

About 10 minutes

  1. Decide what's required

Mark the courses every new starter must do. From then on they're assigned on the day someone is hired, which is the only way it actually happens.

  2. Assign anything extra

Admin → Course → Learners for a specific person or a group.

  3. They do it on their phone

A link, no login, no app. Modules to read, then questions. They can stop and come back.

  4. They pass, or they don't

The pass mark is real. A learner who fails re-sits — that's the point of having it. Questions are written so a course can't be passed by picking the longest answer.

  5. Certificates issue themselves

With an expiry date on them. Admin → Course → Certificates shows what's live and what's running out, so renewals are a list rather than a surprise.

  6. Record outside training too

Somebody's external food-safety or manual-handling certificate can be recorded against them, so one screen shows the whole picture rather than the half you issued.

When it doesn't go to plan

  • These certificates are not externally accredited. They evidence that you trained your staff — which is what food-safety law requires of you — but they are not QQI or EHAI awards.
  • Manual handling especially. Irish law wants a practical assessment by a competent person. Any theory course here does not satisfy that on its own.
